PAUL BROWN
Paul Brown, master hairstylist, educator and businessman, heads an
international company today and promotes his beloved Hawaii all over
the world. Brown's far-reaching business had its start when he opened
his first Honolulu hair salon in 1971.
In the late 1980's Paul Brown founded the successful international
hair care products company which bears his name. From his long
experience and knowledge of hair styling, and because of his love of
Hawaii and his work there, he took Hawaiian plant and sea essences and
adapted them into superb multicultural shampoos, conditioners and other
products. These products are now sold in professional salons across the
U.S.A., Europe, Canada, Australia, Mexico, South America and Asia
imparting the healthy glow of Hawaii to the hair of the purchasers,
wherever in the world they live.
Mr. Brown痴 reputation as an educator and developer of a highly
respected product line carries over to Asia and he is often asked to
present educational seminars to large groups of Asian visitors. In
addition, he travels extensively giving demonstrations and explaining
his distinctive technique in Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada,
Belgium, the Netherlands, Iceland and Germany.
Since arriving in Honolulu in 1970 Paul Brown has developed a
personal clientele that includes the Morita family (founders of Sony)
and Yaeko Shiotsuki (Etiquette Director for Japan痴 Emperor), Hawaii's
highest elected officials, business leaders and entertainers.
International notables and European and Asian royalty seek out Paul
Brown's services when they spend time in Hawaii.
Recently the readers of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin voted Paul Brown
Salons " Hawaii's Best." The Paul Brown Salons & Spas have been
recognized by the industry in the 鉄alon Today 200, an annual profile
of the 200 fastest-growing salons in North America.
Brown has also been recognized nationally for his extraordinary
charitable efforts and contributions in Hawaii. Salon Today, the
leading national trade publication for the beauty and spa industry,
named him Philanthropist of the Year. Brown is a member of the board of
directors of the International Chain Salon Association (ICSA), an
advocacy and education group for the industry. The Paul Brown companies
are members of The Salon Association (TSA) and the Beauty and Barber
Supply Institute (BBSI).
Paul Brown has maintained a highly successful salon business for
more than 34 years. His haircare line is now a dozen years old. Both
the Paul Brown services and products are noted for their multicultural
emphasis, developed because of the traditionally rich mix of cultures
in Hawaii.
Today there are five Paul Brown salons, day spas and spas in
Hawaii: three on the island of Oahu; the flagship salon and day spa in
Honolulu, two full service salons in suburban Honolulu; the salon and
spa at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel at Mauna Kea Resort, located on
the Kohala Coast of the island of Hawaii; and Paul Brown痴 Spa Olakino
* Salon at Marriott's flagship hotel, the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort
& Spa. The combined locations employ approximately 200 people.
